Thank you Patrick for your very welcome vote of confidence! Yes, I can certainly defend myself if it becomes necessary! Here comes the 'but'! But, it's nice to know that there are some out there who appreciate my thoughts. There's a huge difference.ĭick Oslund doesn't need anyone to defend him, but if you are saying his advice is outdated, you are missing out on some very good The patter and presentations in 13 Steps is certainly dated, but not outdated. If I were watching someone perform and he reached into his pocket and got out a cigarette case, he's lost me as an audience member, but this was once apparently just fine.) We no longer have the acceptance of smoking everywhere all the time that would allow a performer to get a cigarette during his act in order to ditch something. (By props and attitudes, I mean things like cigarettes in magic. I often wonder about the claim that particular sources are 'outdated.' Unless they rely on props or attitudes that are no longer around, it is hard to see any magic trick becoming outdated if it was ever good to begin with.
